About This Role – Case Investigation Analyst
Genesis is seeking a Case Investigation Analyst, with a strong background in BSA/AML Transaction Monitoring, reporting directly to the Case Investigation AVP and TM & Blockchain Analytics Lead. The Case Investigation Analyst will focus on executing an effective TM program in the New York office.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Review and disposition TM-related alerts from blockchain analytics and fiat behavioral rules
- Receive alert review escalations and referrals of potentially suspicious activity
- Conduct case investigations related to suspicions of money laundering or terrorist financing
- Conduct blockchain analysis to determine the source or destination of cryptocurrency transactions
- Escalate transactions to the TM & Blockchain Analytics Lead for further review as appropriate
- Escalate cases to the BSA/AML Officer for Suspicious Activity Report (“SAR”) decisioning
- Maintain the Suspicious Activity Tracker and track the timeliness of SAR filing
- Prepare draft narratives of potential suspicious activity for review and approval by the BSA/AML Officer
- File SARs (as delegated by the BSA/AML Officer) with FinCEN
- Conduct continuous activity reviews for the previously filed SARs
- Retain copies of SARs and supporting documentation
- Conduct a twice-monthly reconciliation of the Suspicious Activity Tracker with the information in FinCEN’s BSA E-Filing System
- Prepare a monthly report on SAR metrics for the BSA/AML Officer
- Prepare monthly management reporting of TM-related metrics for the OFAC/Sanctions Officer and Chief Compliance Officer
- Identify and escalate TM compliance-related issues and/or include in logs of identified issues for corrective action
- Work with the TM & Blockchain Analytics Lead to develop red flags for money laundering and terrorist financing violations typologies
- Assist the TM & Blockchain Analytics Lead with fulfilling law enforcement requests
- Assist the broader BSA/AML compliance team with collecting AML or blockchain analysis data for audit, regulator, or partner requests
- Refine and build upon our compliance TM frameworks, including maintenance and enhancement of relevant policies and procedures
- Facilitate and drive discussions with internal stakeholders on key projects related to integration of new TM tools and processes
- Execute special TM projects as needed
- Support the broader BSA/AML and Sanctions compliance as needed
- Promptly report and escalate BSA/AML and Sanctions compliance-related issues and potential red flags
- Participate in and contribute to BSA/AML and Sanctions risk assessments, as required
- Understand and comply with BSA/AML and Sanctions regulatory requirements
- Complete BSA/AML and Sanctions training requirements within required timeframes
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Law/Accounting/Finance or related discipline
- 3+ years of investigative experience in anti-money laundering and financial crimes
- Working knowledge of AML laws, regulations, and guidelines
- Proficiency with basic data analysis techniques
- Holds or has the ability to obtain CAMS certification within 12 months of employment
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Experience working with Microsoft Office (e.g., Excel, Word)
- Quick learner who can adapt well to a fluid regulatory and business environment
- Organized with a high level of attention to detail
- Experience in a Fintech or Cryptocurrencies will be highly advantageous

The base salary range for this role is $85,000 - $105,000. This range is not inclusive of any potential bonus amounts. Factors that may impact the agreed upon base salary for a particular candidate include years of experience, skill set, and other external factors.
